WEBER MEDAL CEREMONY

 

One-hundred-fifty plus years after John Baptiste Weber enlisted in the 44th New York Volunteer Infantry; he was posthumously awarded the Civil War Campaign Medal by the U. S. Department of the Army. Cadre from Weber Guard formed the Honor Guard when Colonel Weber’s Civil War Campaign Medal was placed with his other artifacts in the Lackawanna Public Library. The Weber Guard is commanded by 2LT Michael Erb and 1SG Robert Wiltshire.

Colonel Weber’s nomination for the decoration was recently made on his behalf by the Historian at the New York State Armory on Masten Avenue. The decoration was awarded to members of the United States military who had served in the American Civil War between 1861 and 1865. The Brothers of Weber Camp placed the medal into Colonel Weber’s collection during a brief ceremony on Saturday, February 25, 2012. The collection is permanently displayed in the Lackawanna Public Library.
